The basics
What is Dysport?
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved form of botulinum toxin type A, the same family of medicine as Botox. It was approved for frown lines in 2009 and works by relaxing the muscles that cause expression lines, so the skin above them smooths out.
Many clients love it because it often kicks in a little sooner than Botox and spreads slightly more, which makes it a good fit for larger areas like the forehead. It’s also a popular choice for a subtle lip flip.
Dysport is measured in different units than Botox, so the numbers aren’t directly comparable. What matters is the result, and Jamie doses for the look you want.
Areas we treat
- Frown linesThe vertical “11s” between your brows
- Forehead linesHorizontal lines across your forehead
- Lip flipA subtle roll of the upper lip for a fuller look, without filler
Dysport is FDA-approved for frown lines. Like many injectors, Jamie may also use it in other areas based on your goals. Ask about a subtle brow lift at your consultation.

I really lucked out finding Jamie! Before her, I had tried several different places for Dysport but never truly gravitated toward any of them.

I got Dysport in my lip for a flip and eyebrows for a lift and I couldn’t be happier. It looks so good.

Questions
Dysport FAQs
How fast does Dysport work?
Many people notice a difference in 2 to 3 days, with full results at about 2 weeks. That’s the best time to decide whether you’d like a touch-up.
What is a lip flip?
A lip flip uses a few units of Dysport along the upper lip to relax the muscle, so the lip rolls slightly outward and shows a little more. It’s subtler than lip filler, doesn’t add volume and usually lasts about 2 to 3 months. If you want more volume, lip filler may be a better fit.
Can I switch from Botox to Dysport?
Yes. Some people find one works better or lasts longer for them. Tell Jamie what you’ve had before and how it worked, and she’ll adjust your dose.
Why does Dysport take more units than Botox?
The two are measured on different scales, so unit counts aren’t directly comparable. More Dysport units doesn’t mean a stronger treatment. Jamie doses for the result you want.
What are the possible side effects?
The most common are temporary redness, small bumps at the injection points, mild bruising and headache. Less often, a brow or eyelid can droop for a few weeks. Get medical help right away if you have trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing after treatment.
